Bakewell on a grey October morning
A cool, overcast ride through Matlock and Alport to Bakewell for a sandwich and a look around.
Mid-October, no rain, and not much warmth: 15 to 18 °C under mostly grey skies, with a brisk wind that got up to 18 mph.
The way there
The route ran through Alfreton, then along the B6014 by Woolley Moor and down into Matlock. From there I took the B5056 through Alport to Bakewell.

I parked on Granby Road, in the pay-on-entry car park at the rear. Parking is charged all day, and the board lists the prices.

Lunch was a sandwich, eaten in Bakewell.

Cold, grey days suit this kind of ride: quiet roads, a hot stop and no rush to get anywhere.

Pay on entry, and the machines take PayByPhone. When I went, the charge was up to £1.80 for an hour and £5.00 for four hours, 8am to 6pm. Check the signs for motorcycle parking.
