A hot July run to Matlock Bath
A hot, dry summer ride down the Derwent Valley to Matlock Bath, with a stop outside the fish bar.
A dry, sunny day with temperatures between 21 and 25 °C and only a light breeze. It was ideal weather for a run into the Peak District.
The way there
The route went through Alfreton, Ambergate and Belper, then followed the Derwent Valley down to Cromford and on to Matlock Bath.
Matlock Bath
Matlock Bath is a popular stop for motorcyclists, and on a hot July day it showed. I parked up outside Kostas Fish Bar, with a row of other bikes lined up along the kerb.
The stop was a long one, which is why the ride shows nearly six hours out for only 46 miles. It’s an easy place to lose an afternoon.
